Chronicles of the Guardians · Chapter 01

The Beginning of Everything

J. K. García

Before time existed, before a single star lit the vast void, there was only one presence.

The Father.

There was no light, for He had not yet spoken it into being. There was no darkness, for nothing existed that could conceal the light. There was no heaven, no earth, no life.

Only an eternal silence… filled with possibility.

Then the Father opened His eyes for the first time and spoke with a voice so powerful that nothingness itself trembled.

“Let existence be.”

And the void obeyed.

From the Father's first breath came seas of energy that spread without limit. Thousands of sparks streaked through the void. Some became stars. Others became galaxies. Still others gave rise to worlds that would one day harbor life.

Yet amid all that creation, thirteen distinct flames arose.

They were not merely angels.

They were His first children.

The first beings created to protect the balance of all existence.

Each received a unique gift, but five shone with an intensity none could match. They would become known as the Five Guardians of Heaven.

The first to open his eyes was Lucero.

He was born enveloped in light so brilliant that even the newborn stars seemed to dim beside him. His wings were white, touched with gold. At the center of his chest shone a living star that seemed to hold the dawn of the entire universe.

The Father smiled with pride.

“My son… you will carry My light into every corner where hope has yet to reach. You will be first among your brothers and sisters, and you will remember that light must never serve pride, but love.”

Lucero bowed his head.

“So it shall be, Father.”

Then Leo was born.

He did not emerge from fire or water.

He was born of joy.

When the Father first beheld His children gathered together, an immense happiness filled His heart. That happiness took form.

And from it, Leo was born.

His laughter filled the universe for the first time. Wherever he walked, flowers sprang up even from the coldest stone. Wherever he spoke, fear vanished. And wherever he smiled, hope was born.

“You will remind all creation that even in darkness, there is always a reason to smile.”

Leo answered with a laugh.

“I will teach even the stars to laugh, Father.”

The third was Tarus.

When the Father contemplated the vastness of the universe, He understood that one day someone would have to bear the weight of sorrow.

So He took a newborn mountain.

He made it into a heart.

And that heart began to beat.

Thus Tarus was born.

He was immense. His presence made others feel safe. His voice was calm as stone and steadfast as time. He could stop a star with his own hands and carry entire worlds upon his shoulders.

The Father laid a hand upon his brow.

“My son… you will bear what others cannot. You will be the shield of your brothers and sisters, and the strength of My creation.”

Tarus simply answered:

“Yes, Father.”

The fourth was Nerea.

As the universe continued to expand, a tiny drop appeared, suspended in the void. That drop grew. It became an infinite ocean.

From the heart of those waters emerged a woman with a serene gaze and crystalline wings of pure water. Every tear that fell from her eyes could heal any wound.

Even those no one could see.

“My daughter,” the Father said, “you will remind them all that even the strongest need compassion. You will heal bodies, hearts, and souls.”

Nerea bowed her head with a gentle smile.

“As long as a wound remains… I will be there.”

The fifth was Agnis.

She was not born of light.

She was not born of water.

She was born of fire.

An immense blue flame appeared in the void. Then it turned golden. At last, it took the form of a warrior with an unwavering gaze.

The flames that covered her body never harmed the innocent. They consumed only what threatened life.

The Father looked upon her with pride.

“My daughter… when light is not enough and compassion cannot stop the darkness, you will raise your sword. You will be the defender of justice.”

Agnis knelt on one knee.

“I will never raise my sword out of pride… only out of love for Your creation.”

The Father smiled, satisfied.

After them, eight more angels were born. They did not possess the same power as the Five Guardians, but they were loyal and courageous warriors.

Together, they formed the Thirteen Guardians of Heaven.

For millions of years, they traveled through the universe, bringing balance to every corner of creation.

Lucero illuminated worlds shrouded in darkness.

Leo restored hope to those who had lost it.

Nerea healed oceans, mountains, and wounded creatures.

Agnis destroyed the shadows that threatened peace.

Tarus built cities, protected planets, and supported his brothers and sisters when they fell.

There was no war.

There was no hatred.

There was no sin.

There was only harmony.

But even in the brightest heart, a small shadow can be born.

While his brothers and sisters marveled at the immensity of creation, Lucero began to contemplate himself.

He was the first.

The most powerful.

The most admired.

The closest to the Father.

And slowly, without anyone noticing… he began to wonder whether one day he might cease to be a son and become a king.

Only one of his brothers sensed the change.

Tarus.

While everyone else saw the angel of light… he began to see the first shadow taking shape in his brother's heart.

And that shadow… would one day change the fate of the universe forever.
